Water:
Water is obtained from two sources:
• Borehole delivering approximately 12 000 liters per hour. Water is pumped to a reverse osmosis system into a 5000-liter tank. Clean drinking water from the Osmosis system is then stored in a 2500-liter tank where it is gravitated to the main house and cottage. System produces clean water at a rate of 250 liter per hour – more than enough for a family. The system is serviced every year.
• Borehole is equipped with pump and 3 x 255-Watt solar panels.
• Rain water is harvested in 2 x 2500 liter water tanks at the main house, and 7 x 5000 liter at the storeroom and carport. When there is no rain water, these tanks are filled from the borehole and used in the house and for garden purposes.
• Please note that although you are overlooking the Groot River, and you have access to it via vehicle on the main road, the river is not on the property, and you will not be able to access the river water.
• The sink dam is used as a swimming pool, and there is a pump with its own 6 x panels for filtration and circulation. The water from pool is used to irrigate the grass around the pool – imagine – green grass in the middle of the Klein Karoo!! Storage capacity is 44 000 liters.
Electricity:
• Fully off grid with 12 x 255-Watt panels, 8,5 KVA inverter, and three lithium batteries.
• The borehole and pool pumps have their own panels and inverters.
• The cottage uses 12 V for lights from its own deep cycle battery, and 220 V from the main system.
• The storerooms and carport use 12 V for lights from their own deep cycle batteries.
Garden:
• Indigenous garden with succulents and large areas covered in stone to reduce dust.
• Garden path ways with stone
• Outdoor shower area
• Vegetable garden with adjacent chicken coop.
• Olive, lemon, avocado, macadamia, guava, apple, fig and nartjie trees, not to forget the grenadella (passion fruit).
