Demistplek Ranch provides water from a borehole via reservoirs, but for self-sustaining purposes rainwater is harvested through gutters and stored in 2 x 5000 liter tanks. For energy means, a 5 KVA Phoenix inverter is installed with 2 Victron lithium batteries. Two solar panels installed on the roof. Hot water is provided through a 20 liter Paloma Eco Gas heater.
A well-run Farm Owners Association (FOA) takes care of the communal aspects. A constitution with Code of Conduct and architectural guidelines ensures that everyone's interests are protected. Hunting is not allowed on the farm but organised culling could take place from time to time. the whole ranch is fully fenced with game fencing.
Via the N2 a 45 km dirt road leads north from Riversdale and via Route 62 a 30 km dirt road leads south from Ladismith to Vanwyksdorp itself, and from there a 30 minutes drive on a dirt track brings you to De Mistplek Ranch itself. This is not a share block, fractional or sectional title scheme and is one of only a few developments of this kind where you get freehold title to your farm.
