Farm for Sale in Hartbeesfontein Ah

The farm consists of a beautiful 21Ha on the Northern slopes of the Magalies mountain. Rich in Boor history from the 1800’s. The farm houses the Hartebeestfontein Boor School building dated 1897 (fully restored) with lots of history and nostalgia.

The farm is situated on the old Paul Kruger Wagon Trail running over Silkaatsnek westward along the Magalies Mountains towards Rustenburg. History has it that a number of prominent names like Kruger, de Wet, de La Rey, Maritz and numerous Boer Commandos used the area and School Building for gatherings and their meetings during the war.

A desktop study was done by University of Pretoria that confirms a lot of wonderful historical events happening on the farm before, during and after the Anglo-Boer-War. There is a very old Wild Fig tree in front of the old school where the Boers held Church on Sundays and it is believed...

A desktop study was done by University of Pretoria that confirms a lot of wonderful historical events happening on the farm before, during and after the Anglo-Boer-War. There is a very old Wild Fig tree in front of the old school where the Boers held Church on Sundays and it is believed that up to 80 wagons gathered in the area for Sunday Church. The availability of water that spontaneously seeps from the ground enabled trekkers to water their animals here and ultimately lead to the development of a trading post, Church meetings and the building of the Hartebeestfontein School. The area is filled with relics and a Historical Hotspot.

Access to the farm is via a well maintained gravel road from the R511 (between the Silkaatsnek Sasol Garage and the PV3 Grounds. The farm borders the R511 on its northern border. The main section of the farm where the houses and buildings are, is situated on the southern side of the farm towards the mountain.

The Farm has a very strong fountain not far from the old school building believed to be dug open by the Trekkers in the late 1800’s. The fountain is the source of a stream flowing north along the Eastern border of the farm. This fresh sweet fountain water attracts an abundance of birds and small game like Duiker and Warthog. The fountain is active from the late 1800’s but stops flowing for periods due to the drought we’ve experienced.

Macadamia Trees.

The farm has a small orchid of approximately 85 mature Macadamia trees.

The farm has a good underground water supply. The fountain has a flowing capacity of about 60,000L/hour.
