Stacking doors open onto a memorable entertainment area: a part covered verandah, with garapa decking, in which is set a sizeable fibreglass pool with water feature. There is plenty of space for lounging and al fresco dining; with a firepit adding an intimate ambience. There is also a fountain. The clear view fence gives an unimpeded vista of the valley and protected ridge. A snug little outdoor lounge is situated in the lea of the house, where the walls give protection from the wind on wilder days.
Back inside we find the kitchen is smart and well equipped, defined by a large Caesar stone breakfast bar. Appliances are integrated with the light grey and white cabinetry, and include a larger than usual fridge /freezer, and an induction hob and two Siemens ovens - one of these is a microwave /convection oven. There is also a coffee station. A scullery/ laundry leads off with alcoves for three appliances.
The streamlined design of this up-to-the-minute modern home is complemented by the tasteful pale grey and white de´cor, and light laminate wood floors throughout.
The main bedroom is also on the ground floor – a large airy room with windows on two sides, dressed with venetian blinds. Aluminium sliders lead out to the entertainment area. Closets feature push and release doors. The beautifully crafted bedside lamps are a fixture. The full en suite bathroom has twin basins and a separate toilet. There is a guest toilet near the front door.
We mount the floating staircase to view three en suite bedrooms, which are light and roomy with extra high ceilings and double glazing. The view extends across the valley and ridge beyond as far as the misty Tsitsikamma Mountains in the distance; the westerly aspect means you can enjoy the exquisite sunsets from your own private balcony. One bedroom has a full bathroom the other two, shower rooms, with heated towel rails. All have generous, soft close closets, aircon/ heaters, and balcony. A lovely relaxing feature in two of the bedrooms are the day beds integrated with the bay windows. One bedroom has a bookshelf built into the wall. There is also a study and linen cupboard.
Utilities are well taken care of: outside there is a toilet and small enclosed yard set aside for refuse. The landscaped, indigenous garden is watered from a rain tank. Power needs are met with solar energy, backed by a Victron inverter and housed in a dedicated utilities room. There are two x 200 litre geysers. In the double garage there is space set aside for laundry drying. The paved forecourt has plenty of parking for visitors.
Although Brackenridge has its own top security system, this property also has its own, incorporating eight cameras. Brackenridge is a highly favoured eco estate where stewarding the natural environment is prioritised. There are stands of trees and fynbos between the houses, and extensive trails are laid for the enjoyment of residents who love to walk in nature. Small creatures such as buck, mongoose and porcupine have made this place their home, and bird life flourishes.
To dwell in nature in a secure environment is a top priority for many home seekers, and Brackenridge perfectly meets these requirements. And yet the amenities of the charming little town of Plettenberg Bay are only a few minutes’ drive away.
