My name is Johan, and I feel deeply privileged to be part of a community of real people who not only appreciate property but are genuinely committed to making a positive impact in St Francis Bay. My colleagues and I are fortunate to enjoy the simple, rewarding lifestyle this beautiful area offers.

In 1983, I married Jolande, the heart and engine of our family. She is a dedicated sportswoman, and together we’ve been blessed with two incredible sons—one a mining engineer, the other a wind turbine technician—and a daughter currently studying. Our family has always been close-knit, and we share a love for outdoor activities like cycling, running, and long walks on the beautiful beaches that surround us.

When we relocated to St Francis Bay eight years ago, it was an exciting new chapter in our lives. We chose a home at the far end of Santareme, right next to the conservation area, with ocean views that never grow old. Life here feels like a blessing—a place where every day is a new adventure, and even the smallest moments bring joy.

I’ve spent time at various universities and institutions, learning about the dynamics of property, but joining Pam Golding Properties has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. The world of real estate is complex, involving market penetration, deal-making, and the ongoing search for yield as property competes with other asset classes. I quickly learned that success in this industry demands hard work and dedication. It’s not uncommon to put in 10 to 12-hour days, but when you love what you do, it’s all worth it.

What I find truly special about Santareme is the people—humble and grounded, they value the simple things in life. As I assist buyers and sellers, I’m constantly reminded that this community is about more than property. It’s about relationships, respect, and a shared appreciation for the beauty around us.

I believe the property values in Santareme are still undervalued, with excellent north-facing homes offering sea views, though many of the more affordable options have already been snapped up. The charm of Port St Francis, with its private harbour and thriving fishing industry, adds another layer of appeal to the area. I purchased a unit there to better understand its value and lifestyle, and I’ve come to love the informal, relaxed holiday atmosphere that permeates the community.

My wife and I are proud to be actively involved in the local community. We’ve always believed in the power of real estate as an investment, and our approach to property is one of balance—spreading assets across industrial and residential markets for long-term stability.

I’m truly grateful for the values and work ethic I’ve found at Pam Golding team, and I’m committed to serving both buyers and sellers. My hope is that the relationships I build today will last a lifetime, and that my clients will become friends.

As I sit here, overlooking the Shark Point carpark and the beautiful fynbos towards Cape St Francis, I realize I am living the dream I once thought impossible. Being so close to the sea and surrounded by nature, I couldn’t ask for more. Life in Santareme is not just a privilege—it’s a dream come true.
