Kuwait’s IFA Hotels & Resorts (IFA) has again shown its ongoing commitment to South Africa by officially unveiling the much-anticipated Zimbali Lakes Resort at an exclusive event hosted in November 2017.
The 300ha development, which will provide in excess of 2 700 residential opportunities, will be developed by IFA over the coming decade. This resort will consist of five main nodes that between them will provide multi-generational, mixed-use offerings to suit the specific needs of a broad range of investors, catering for both commercial and residential needs, including a 750-unit retirement lifestyle village.
“Zimbali has already set the benchmark for estate living internationally, and Zimbali Lakes Resort will undoubtedly deliver on the same success. In line with the brands ethos to live in harmony with nature, a significant differentiator for Zimbali Lakes Resort is the magnificent lake and all the unique activities that it will offer to residents,” explains Phil De Sylva, IFA Senior Vice President Operations.
Key to the success of this pet-friendly resort will be the provision of a wide array of amenities, including a new 18-hole championship design golf course, sporting facilities and routes to accommodate mountain bikers, runners, or those retirees just looking for a stroll.
The signature feature from which the resort gets its name is the 30ha lake that is to be created adjacent to the uTongaati River, providing recreational water sport opportunities and significantly enhancing views from surrounding real estate.
Investor confidence into the region remains high, with accelerated development taking place in Umhlanga, Sibaya and Ballito, as evidenced by the construction cranes visible within these locations, the recent opening of the Ballito Junction Shopping Mall and the extensive refurbishments being undertaken to the Ballito Lifestyle Centre.
IFA’s portfolio stretches around the world and includes the likes of the Pine Cliffs Resort on the Algarve in Portugal, The Fairmont Palm on Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, and their sister development the Legend Golf & Safari Resort, located in the Waterberg, South Africa.
“IFA has again delivered on its commitment to South Africa by following on with our vision to become one of the leading foreign tourism and property investors in Africa. Our country and the regional economy are set to enjoy a further boost by these excellent investments that are being made in Zimbali,” says Werner Burger, CEO of IFA South Africa.
