The state has come to its senses and allowed people who have been severely impacted by the restrictions to move house - to do so, up until 7 June.
The rules, announced by Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma on Thursday evening, 7 May - now allow people to move if they have entered into a new lease agreement, either before or during lockdown, or where they have bought new homes and the transfer of the property has already gone through.
Once off movement for tenants and home owners apply as follows:
- If a new lease agreement was entered into before or during lockdown* ie, before 30 April 2020;
- If the transfer of immovable property occurred before the lockdown* period ie, before 27 March 2020;

During the move you should have:
- A copy of the Permit signed by a SAPS Station Commander or a person designated by him or her.
- In his or her possession the relevant lease agreement indicating the date of expiry of the old lease and date of commencement of the new lease, or the transfer documents attesting to the change in place of residence or change of ownership of property.
