A Women in Property Conference will be held in Durban on 11 March 2017, hosted by Ft_G Consulting Services in partnership with a KwaZulu-Natal property developer, Tongaat Hulett Developments and Durban contractor RGZ Propects.
“It will be a day of engaging in conversation around property entrepreneurship and information on entering into this exciting space. We bring you speakers from within the property investment industry, such award-winning entrepreneur Lynette Ntuli, industry leader Tshepiso Kobile and Regional Manager of NEF Phakamile Madonsela, just to name a few,” says Nozi Sikhonde, CEO of Ft_G Consulting Services.
“The Women in Property Conference is back for its first leg in 2017, and our first conference for the year will be hosted in Durban due to popular demand from the KwaZulu-Natal community.”
Sikhonde says the Women in Property Initiative aims to empower women who would like to or are about to start their entrepreneurial journey in the property sector or those who are already on their way.
“This initiative is intended to empower these women through the dissemination of vital information about the industry and where the opportunities lie, whilst helping them build the invaluable networks within the industry that will support them, leading to their success,” says Sikhonde.
“The initiative runs in two phases, the first being the conference phase where we get budding and small property entrepreneurs in one room with industry players and leaders. The second phase is a series of monthly workshops that seek to unpack the themes covered by our speakers during the conference.”
Sikhonde says the Inaugural Women in Property Conference that took place on 27 August 2016 at Ellis Park Hotel located in Bertrams sought to create an unprecedented level of engagement amongst women, especially women of colour, around the numerous opportunities in the property sector, and it achieved just that.
“The conference was a resounding success, with women in attendance from across the country, and it even attracted men. It covered topics such as what the numerous opportunities available in the property sector are, how to go about raising equity and funding these ventures, the legal aspects of property entrepreneurship and the management of property investments,” she says.
This time around, Sikhonde says the Durban conference will provide the women of KZN a strategic opportunity to empower themselves whilst empowering others and play a vital role in their communities and the South African economy.
“Women have an opportunity to enter the built environment by getting involved in the buying and selling of property, the rental market, real estate development and even the construction industry,” says Sikhonde.
“This conference will assist in giving a better understanding of the industry, its barriers to entry for women, its opportunities, its challenges and how to overcome said challenges as a vital start to women becoming major industry players.”
She says the conference strives to encourage entrepreneurship and foster support for women who are currently property entrepreneurs and those who aspire to become one.
Who should attend?
1. Women who want to become property entrepreneurs.
2. Women who are already property entrepreneurs.
3. All who can partner with women entrepreneurs with the aim to empower them.
4. Women who are currently in the property space (corporate and government) and want to empower other women.
The conference will be held on 11 March 2017 from 8h30 to 18h00 at Olwandle Suit Hotel and Conference, 110 Stalwart Simelane Street, Durban. Tickets are on sale for R800.
