Construction on
Witbank's first residential golf estate on the banks of the Olifants River is progressing at a brisk pace.
Witbank's first residential golf estate,
Bankenveld Golfing Estate, constitutes an extension of the existing
Bankenveld Estate, which is situated between Witbank and
Middelburg.
"The 300 erven that have been developed will be increased by an additional 660 residential erven, and the 450 hectare estate will include an 18-hole championship golf course and driving range, private school, chapel, offices, hotel and a health and spa facility," says Sandy Alberts of
Seeff Properties Witbank.
An Environment Control Officer has been appointed to ensure that all construction is in accordance with the approved Environmental Management Plan. The wetland area is going to be rehabilitated, and any effect on the sensitive grasslands minimised, while owners will be encouraged to plan indigenous trees.
Alberts outlines how the project is progressing: "Installation of the infrastructure of phase one is complete and that of phase two will be completed during August and the first nine holes are almost complete and expected to be playable by December 2009. The foundations of the first houses have been laid. We have around 30 stands left of phases 1 and 2 for sale – and this was because finances of the initial buyers were not approved. The estate has proved very popular, with stands selling from R500k and the smallest sized stand being 1,200sqm. Owners may design their own home according to architectural guidelines."
Bankenveld Golf Estate is conveniently located 3 km from the interchange to
Pretoria on the N4 (100 km away) and to
Johannesburg on the N1 (140 km away).
The Ridge Casino and
Highveld Mall is situated 3 km from the estate.
