Water restrictions implemented in Pretoria

13 Oct 2015

The City of Tshwane says it is currently implementing water restrictions due to high water demand caused by the current heat wave.

The City said the schedule of the restrictions will be implemented with immediate effect and cannot be determined as they are dependent on the water levels of the reservoirs.

"The heat wave has seen the water demand constantly increasing, resulting in the reservoirs across the City operating at very low levels. This has also slowed down the pace at which water builds up in the reservoirs as some high lying areas are experiencing low water pressure already,” the City said in a statement.

The City said the schedule of the restrictions will be implemented with immediate effect and cannot be determined as they are dependent on the water levels of the reservoirs.

Water restrictions, include water/irrigation of gardens with hose pipes or sprinkler system from 6am to 6pm, washing of vehicles with hosepipes and filling swimming pools.

On Saturday, areas including Constantia Park, Waterkloof, Erasmuskloof, Eldorado Park and some parts of Moreletapark experienced water shortages due to the high demand.

The City warned that should the restrictions not be adhered to, the water shortage situation may worsen. - SAnews.gov.za
