Swartland getaway home up for auction 24/6

15 Jun 2015

Are you seeking a rural getaway or retirement home in a genuinely remote, peaceful and crime-free area? A property coming under the hammer in Koringberg in the Western Cape’s Swartland might just be what you’re looking for.

There can be great pleasure in moving to a Swartland town, says Lamprecht.

This is according to Zea Lamprecht, a Rawson Auctions sales agent, who says Koringberg is a small town sited just north of Morreesburg and close to Piketberg.

“This is a typical “strandveld” farmhouse, which just happens to be in the main street of the town. It is a single storey building spread out over a large area with spacious interiors and verandas.”

She says the home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen with a scullery and a Queen Anne stove, a large and very comfortable living room and a swimming pool in the garden.

In addition, there is a spacious double storey flat with its own small kitchen, living room, study, bathroom and veranda on the property. This building is separated from the main house by a wall, giving both homes considerable privacy.

Lamprecht says the home is well-appointed in every way, and typical of the Victorian/Edwardian era. It has high ceilings and solid wood doors.

Furthermore, being sited on 2 580sqm and registered as a farm, the home has olive trees, the crop of which, when processed by the olive press in nearby Riebeek Kasteel, produces about 15 litres of olive oil each year.

This three bedroom, two bathroom home in Koringberg will be auctioned on Wednesday, 24 June. The property is set on a 2 580sqm erf, and includes a separate double storey flat - click here to view.

“There can be great pleasure in moving to a Swartland town of this kind,” says Lamprecht.

“It is well-known that they enjoy a wonderful social life with golf, bowls and tennis played by a surprisingly large number of the community.”

A nine-hole golf course is not far away, and much patronised by local people, while water sports can be enjoyed on the Misverstand Dam and the West Coast beaches with their excellent fishing are also relatively nearby.

Tanya Jovanovski, franchisee for Rawson Auctions in the Western Cape, says, as the home is so large and in such good condition, bids should start in the region of R1.65 million.

“I cannot overemphasise how much charm this building has, and I urge people to make an appointment to visit it,” says Jovanovski.

The auction is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 24 June at 12h00 at the Rawson Property Group’s head office at 222 Main Road, Rondebosch in Cape Town.

Rawson Auctions’ terms require that the highest bidder pay a 5% deposit of the bid amount and a 10% auctioneers’ fee, plus VAT, over and above the bid amount on the signature of seller.

Consumer Protection Act regulations stipulate that all bidders be registered, and that they bring with them certified copies of their identity documents and proof of residence.
