Steyn City has been named one of South Africa’s top lifestyle estates in the AfrAsia Bank and New World Wealth’s rating of the country’s best developments of this nature.
Giuseppe Plumari, CEO of Steyn City Properties, says they are delighted to be named the second-best lifestyle estate in South Africa. “Our accomplishment is all the more noteworthy given that Steyn City has not yet celebrated its third birthday, plus many of the other estates we are up against boast coastal locations.”
The report noted that Steyn City’s amenities are amongst the best in the country. These include a world-class equestrian centre, a Nicklaus designed championship golf course and hectares of landscaped parklands.
“And while the only thing missing is the ocean, we are working on it!’ says Plumari.
AfrAsia Bank and New World Wealth further commented on the calibre of Steyn City’s communal areas, comparing them to the likes of global landmarks like Hampstead Heath and Richmond Park. “Local residents can gather here during weekends and after work to meet, talk and walk their dogs. The estate is also very child friendly with walking paths and underpasses under all the roads,” the report notes.
Mention was also made of Steyn City’s efforts to promote indigenous birdlife through the employ of Ecosolutions, a company which encourages owls to live at the estate. They called this initiative “a noble idea”.
Plumari says the coveted second place rating represents a significant milestone from last year’s ranking, when Steyn City was named the fourth leading lifestyle estate in South Africa.
He adds that this is confirmation for existing homeowners that their investment in Steyn City is a solid one. “In fact, we are particularly pleased to note that land prices at Steyn City have continued to rise, counter to the prevailing property trends in South Africa.”
When the rest of the market has languished in a depressed state, Steyn City sales during 2017 have increased by 20% over the same period last year, says Plumari.
“While this is impressive, we like to think that our homeowners don’t benefit solely from a financial investment. They’ve made an investment in lifestyle, too,” he says.
AfrAsia Bank and New World Wealth’s report bears this out, noting that when the remainder of Steyn City’s planned facilities come online, it will be the most extensive lifestyle resort in South Africa in terms of amenities and activities. Facilities in the pipeline include two private schools, a private hospital, convenience shopping, a retirement village and offices.
“This is a great moment for us. If we can achieve so much in just two and a half years, how much more will we achieve in the future?” says Plumari.
