Non-residential building plans only fell 0,8% this time from -28,6% before, but residential plans fell 21,1% from -19,9% before and additions and alterations were down 18,5% from -3,6% before.
Building completions at constant prices fell 23,7% y/y in October from –32,7% in September.
The value of recorded building plans passed by larger municipalities (at current prices) during January to October 2009 decreased by 24,3% (-R16,924bn) compared with January to October 2008.
The largest decrease was reported for residential buildings (-40,1% or -R13,656bn), followed by additions and alterations (-10,3% or -R2,004bn) and non-residential buildings (-7,9% or -R1,264bn).
All nine provinces reported decreases in the value of building plans passed during January to October 2009. The biggest contributors to the decrease of 24,3% were Gauteng (contributing -9,3 percentage points or -R6,446bn), KwaZulu-Natal (-6% points or -R4,197bn) and Western Cape (-5,9 percentage points or -R4,105bn). – I-Net Bridge
