A fridge is a fridge, is a fridge, apparently not – when buying a new fridge, look for one that saves energy, offers plenty of space, keeps the food fresh and compliments your kitchen.
Integrated fridges and freezers are some of the most energy efficient refrigeration models on the market.
This is according to Liam Gawne from Miele, who explains that the market now has a new range of integrated fridges and freezers that are energy efficient, with high performance cooling capabilities, designed to fit in with any kitchen aesthetic.
Gawne says the integrated refrigeration range offers the following new features:
1. Eco-friendly
Integrated fridges and freezers are some of the most energy efficient refrigeration models on the market.
They are designed to last up to 20 years, and when compared to the average 7-year lifespan of the majority of appliances, this greatly decreases their overall carbon footprint.
2. Light effects
Illuminated fridges have never been so stylish, elegant and refined as they feature the new FlexiLight glass-edge lighting.
Integrated fridges are designed to keep fruits and vegetables crisp and fresh, vitamin-rich and tasty for up to three times longer than a conventional refrigerator.
Gawne says FlexiLight comprises of LED light sources that gently increase in intensity, immersing the entire interior in a pleasant and uniform light. Depending on the fridge make, light sources are positioned on the front edge of the glass shelves, so that they cannot be blocked or covered by any large object.
Their indirect orientation ensures that the user always has an optimum view and is never blinded. The light sources in some freezers are located at the top of the unit, pointing down to illuminate all the various drawers, whether closed or open.
The individual rack levels have electrical contacts for shelf placement customisation. For example, because the light is attached to the shelf, if the user pulls out a glass shelf and puts it back in a lower or higher position, it moves with it.
3. High performance
If the temperature in your freezer has risen or the door has been left open, an alarm will start beeping to let you know.

Gawne says this is made possible by the PerfectFresh compartments, which offer adjustable temperatures, varying from close to 0°C upwards.
4. Notable features
Integrated refrigerators also include the following:
No frost technology - integrated fridges are frost-free.
Clean air filter - cleans air keeping odours at bay.
Dishwasher-proof - door racks and shelves can withstand 125 cycles in a dishwasher at the recommended temperature of 55°C.
Freezer alarm - if the temperature in your freezer has risen or the door has been left open, an alarm will start beeping to let you know.
