Seeff’s 2017 learnership programme a success

12 Feb 2018

In 2017, the Seeff Training academy received funding from Services SETA for an unemployment learnership programme where 36 previously disadvantaged individuals between 18 and 33 years of age, were given the opportunity to obtain qualifications and various skills in real estate before being deployed to Seeff’s offices across Gauteng.

“For this programme, Seeff was assisted by Harambee, a youth employment accelerator and independent, non-profit social enterprise, who helped with the initial screening and recruitment process,” says Ronel Bornman, Seeff’s National HRD Manager.

We have received massive positive feedback from the principals, that some of the learners exceeded expectations to such an extent that they are now employed full-time by Seeff.

“Seeff is fully committed to transformation, and this programme allowed unemployed applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds with a Grade 12 certificate (with Mathematics as a subject) to apply for the learnership.”

Learners were selected based on a number of assessments which allowed the Seeff training academy to benchmark their attitudes and behaviours against Seeff’s achiever agents.

The learners commenced with the FETC: Real Estate NQF level 4 qualification in June 2017, and after completion they acquired various other soft skills and attended IT workshops before being deployed into the workplace.

These learners were placed at Seeff’s branches in Johannesburg South, Randburg, Boksburg and Johannesburg Central, and the various managing directors of these branches have guided and mentored them along the way to equip them with all the necessary skills to follow a career in real estate.

“We have received massive positive feedback from the principals, that some of the learners exceeded expectations to such an extent that they are now employed full time by Seeff. We are hoping for more full-time employments by the Seeff offices after March this year,” says Bornman.

“Seeff is delighted with the outcome of this programme and the contribution it has made to enable disadvantaged people to get an entry into the property sector and the opportunity to make a career in the industry,” says Samuel Seeff, Chairman of the Seeff Property Group.

If selling your property is on your 2025 to-do list, now is the time to start planning for success. With buyers actively searching for well-priced homes, sellers who take the right approach can achieve great results.

With a property portfolio currently consisting of over 9,500 apartments, Houss Rentals has a vacancy rate of less than 2.5%, which is a fantastic achievement as it is way below industry standard. They attribute this to three key factors: the convenience of their systems, the collection of units on offer and lastly is the consistency of their service offerings.

When selling property, you are essentially dealing with two competing interests, that of the seller who wants to get the highest possible price, and the buyer who wants to pay the lowest possible price.
