The property market in South Africa has shown remarkable resilience - Here are the asking price averages you can expect across the most popular suburbs in key SA metros. 

Johannesburg's most popular suburbs 

In June 2021, searches for properties in Johannesburg on Property24 received over 6 million page views, and between April and June 2021, the city received over 18.7 million page views.

Johannesburg has currently *2 354 new property listings, according to property24 Trends Page, with the average asking price for the area being R1.4 million. In June 2021, searches for Cape Town properties on Property24 received over 9.5 million page views. Between April and June 2021 the Cape Town metro received over 29 million page views.

Cape Town currently has *2 017 new property listings, according to Property24 Trends , with the average asking price for the area being R2.99 million. Tshwane's most popular suburbs 

In June, Pretoria received more than 9 million page views on Property24 and an overall of 27.3 million pageviews for the 3-month period between April to June 2021.

The average asking price for Tshwane, about R1.3 million during 2020, has seen a 5.7% increase when compared to a pre-pandemic period of 2019. The average asking price in 2015 of about R1.28 million has seen an increase of some 2.3%, over the five years up until 2020, according to listings data on Property24. Durban's most popular suburbs 

In June 2021, searches on Property24 for the area of Durban saw over 3.3 million page views and some 10.3 million page views between April to June 2021.  
 
Durban has currently *1 183 new property listings, according to Property24 Tends Data, with the average asking price for the area being R1.3 million. The average sale price per erf for 2020 was about R970k, while Section Scheme Units average sale price for the same period is R695k.  
 
The suburbs receiving the most engagement included Musgrave, Morningside, Newlands West, Glenwood and the Bluff. The area of Kloof lists with the highest average asking price of R2.549m, seeing an average year-on-year increase of 9%, according to Property24 Trends Data.
