Sandton City Diamond Walk a shopping paradise

27 Mar 2015

Sandton City’s new Diamond Walk will open to the public on 30 April 2015, staking its position as Africa’s definitive luxury and super-luxury retail destination.

Alex Phakathi says Diamond Walk at Sandton City is "set to dazzle" with a brilliant new clutch of international brands, including Prada, Giorgio Armani, Burberry, Ermenegildo Zegna, Billionaire Italian Couture, Jimmy Choo, Tod’s and Arque Champagne Crescent.

This is according to Alex Phakathi, Stanlib Fund Manager for the Liberty Property Portfolio, who says the striking Diamond Walk at Sandton City is "set to dazzle" with a brilliant new clutch of the world’s most wanted brands.

These include Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, Burberry, Ermenegildo Zegna, Billionaire Italian Couture, Jimmy Choo, Tod’s and Arque Champagne Crescent.

Louis Vuitton and Gucci, both already part of the Sandton City Complex, are also taking the opportunity to enlarge their offering and form part of the list of international fashion houses at Sandton City’s Diamond Walk.

“Sandton City’s new Diamond Walk adds yet another luxurious dimension to the ultimate shopping variety and experience on the continent,” says Phakathi.

Already established as South Africa’s most desirable shopping destination, Sandton City offers an unparalleled retail experience with more than 330 shops in a contemporary, stylish setting.

He says it is in the heart of the country’s most affluent playground and is the retail darling of Africa’s elite and fashion-forward.

“Sandton City is an icon of African urban luxury and sophistication. It offers unrivalled shopping with leading global and South African retail brands.”

Invariably, Phakathi says this makes Sandton City the first choice for international luxury brands seeking to enter South Africa.

“For the new Diamond Walk, we harnessed this allure and approached the luxury and super-luxury brands that best complement the centre’s existing range of brands.”

He says the launch of Sandton City Diamond Walk, featuring the world’s leading names in luxury and super-luxury retail, creates an even greater range of exceptional shopping available at Sandton City.

Coinciding with the launch, as of April, Sandton City will have longer trading hours from 09h00 to 20h00 Monday to Saturday. On Sundays and public holidays, Sandton City will be open from 09h00 to 18h00, he says.

“Diamond Walk’s development, together with the new extended trading hours, strongly reinforces Sandton City as the prime luxury retail location in sub-Saharan Africa.”

Sandton City’s Diamond Walk can be found in a new mall where Sandton City’s upper level links with the Sandton Sun and InterContinental Johannesburg Sandton Towers hotels.

The walk was crafted in a R185 million redevelopment project to fashion a stunning setting befitting one of the world’s most coveted luxury retail brands with all the glamour of world-class shopping, says Phakathi.
