Sandton City attracts trendy tenants

Expect more glitz and glam at Sandton City Shopping Centre as it opens its newly refurbished expansion project with enticing tenants in November.

The centre which is owned by the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) listed company Liberty Group (75%) and Pareto Limited (25%) announced additional international retailers. These include Dumond, Inglot, Carlo Pignatelli, Miguel Vieira and Kurt Geiger. 

Fashion experts and shoppers will soon enjoy the unique and premium offerings by these international brands at Sandton City.

Sandton City is one of Africa’s leading shopping destinations that combine the world’s desirable brands with everyday leisure. The refurbishment and expansion project will have cost R1.77 billion.              

“Sandton City is home to over 300 of the most desirable international and local brands, from fashion and décor to beauty and electronics,” says Sharon Swain, centre manager.

“The arrival of these leading international retail icons bears testament to the shopping centre’s standing as Africa’s shopping gemwith a continuous pulse on international trends and forecasts.” 

Carlo Pignatelli offers timeless garments made from top quality fabrics while Dumond is a leading footwear retailer with a brand presence in over 50 countries.

Polish make-up powerhouse Inglot features a variety of products to suit all shoppers. Men can also look forward to buying the trendiest and latest international fashion brands from Miguel Vieira and Kurt Geiger.

Swain explained that the centre is set to get bigger and brighter with a 30 000sqmextension which is larger than the entire Sandton Convention Centre. The new section will include a new entrance point from Rivonia Road creating a connection point for the increasing number of pedestrians in the area.

Asked about the trends in shopping centres, Swain said the emergence of the smarter shopper is evident with consumers placing greater emphasis on the decision process when purchasing. Shoppers seek value for money and are also informed on global trends and activities. 

“We continuously strive to bring shoppers an offering and shopping component that fuses the crème de la crème of local and international retail leaders,” says Swain.

Existing retailers including, The Bread Basket, Billabong, Nicci, Cameraland, Hydraulics, Marion & Lindie and Chefs n Icers have all unveiled trendy and stylish new store designs and interiors in keeping with the new look Sandton City. – Denise Mhlanga
