SA shopping centre awards now open

The South African Council of Shopping Centres (SACSC) has announced that the annual Retail Design & Development Awards (RDDA) and the Footprint Marketing Awards are now open for entries.

The South African Council of Shopping Centres (SACSC) has announced that the annual Retail Design & Development Awards (RDDA) and the Footprint Marketing Awards are now open for entries.

The RDDA Awards seek to annually recognise exceptional shopping centre design together with its economic success, within the South African property industry, embodying the following attributes:

- excellent design resolution

- achieving a clear overall development goal

- responding positively to its market and its surroundings

- adopting innovative design and construction solutions

- embracing environmental techniques

There are five categories and a winner will be selected in each of these:

New Centres

Including super/regional malls and shopping centres measuring more than 20 000 square metres GLA (the entry cost is R3 420 inc. VAT).

Neighbourhood and Convenience Centres

These are centres measuring less than 20 000 square metres GLA, and the cost of entry is R3 420 inc.VAT.

Renovation or expansion of existing centre

This category is for all centres of all sizes and the amount is R3 420 inc. VAT for entry.

Store Design

All stores and restaurants within shopping centres, entry into the category is R570 inc.VAT.

International

This is for all centres outside of South Africa and the cost of entry is R3 420 inc.VAT.

The Footprint Marketing Awards seek to recognise exceptional shopping centre marketing, innovation and creative achievements, together with economic success, within the South African property industry.

Gold, silver and bronze winners will be announced at regional functions in Gauteng, Western Cape, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.

From these winners, the overall winner of the Spectrum Awards will be announced at a gala event in recognition of overall excellence in the industry.
