Many buyers are looking to trade the hustle and bustle of the city to somewhere that is not too far out, but more relaxed and even a little more laid-back.
This describes Hartbeespoort as a whole, with its Dam views, Mountain views, bushveld getaways and surrounding tourist attractions, says Sandra van Rooyen, a local estate agents specialising in the area.
“We find that people are looking for a change of scenery, especially after the lockdown. People are looking to relax in nature. They want views, restful atmospheres, but still want the luxury of a top-class restaurant and nights out with friends. This describes Hartbeespoort as a whole. The area boasts tranquil dams, mountain views, bushveld getaways, tourist attractions and the works,” says van Rooyen of Just Property.
Van Rooyen says most of the estates around the dam are sought-after and all promote nature, nature conservation. Experience wildlife or a property with access to its own dam is a popular feature for estate properties in this region, she adds.
Drawcard estates

"Trends show that first-time home buyers, especially in the price range between R550 000 and R1.3 million are very popular right now. This is surely encouraged by the low interest rates that the banks offer. Some of the younger age bracket buyers, simply buy cheap properties as an investment and remain living in the city, says Van Rooyen.
Relaxed lifestyle
"The middle age group (between 30 and 45) are looking for property to buy that will offer them entertainment and relaxation. They do not mind the hour-plus commute to work and back every day if this means that they can enjoy a sundowner on the patio of their new home overlooking the Hartbeespoort Dam.
The higher-priced properties are also showing some movement," she adds.
