RE/MAX named fastest-growing franchise

19 Feb 2014

Global real estate leader RE/MAX has been named one of the world’s fastest-growing franchises in Entrepreneur magazine’s Fastest-Growing Franchise Rankings for 2014. RE/MAX ranked 16th overall is the only real estate company on the list.

This makes RE/MAX of Southern Africa currently the largest real estate agency in South Africa, with over 1 900 real estate agents accredited to the brand and the widest footprint across the country.

“It’s no secret why RE/MAX sold so many new franchises, our franchisees know that RE/MAX represents opportunity, the freedom to run their business their way with the support and strength of a leading global brand,” say Margaret Kelly, RE/MAX CEO.

Entrepreneur’s “Fastest Growing” list is an off-shoot of the magazine’s annual “Franchise 500,” now in its 35th year. The 100 companies included on the list were based on the number of new franchise units added in the US and Canada from July 2012 to July 2013, as verified by the “Franchise 500.”

To be eligible for the 500, the magazine judges companies by quantifiable measures including financial strength and stability, growth rate, size of system, start-up costs and financing options. In 2014, RE/MAX was the top ranking real estate company on the 500 list, the 11th time in 15 years that RE/MAX was listed as the top franchisor in the real estate category.

During the first three quarters of 2013, RE/MAX sold 454 new franchises throughout its worldwide network, with 166 new franchises sold in the United States. During the same period, RE/MAX sold 147 new franchises in Europe, 30 in India and 23 in Brazil. There are now RE/MAX offices in more than 90 countries, a presence greater than any competitor.

Adrian Goslett, CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa, says locally the company has excelled too, in terms of sales figures, agent growth and franchise numbers. During 2012 the company opened more than 20 new franchises, with a further 18 new franchises added during 2013.

This makes RE/MAX of Southern Africa currently the largest real estate agency in South Africa, with over 1 900 real estate agents accredited to the brand and the widest footprint across the country. RE/MAX of Southern Africa has more than 175 offices in 10 countries in the Southern Africa region including South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho and Mauritius.

“Statistically, RE/MAX of Southern Africa agents place a family in their dream home every 15 minutes,” says Goslett.

“Last year, RE/MAX of Southern Africa had three record months in terms of registered sales, and the highest ever registered sales recorded in the history of the company during December. We anticipate this year to continue along the same path of success, as our team of dedicated, professional and passionate agents, who have an average of 13 years of real estate experience, will continue to provide home buyers and sellers in the Southern Africa region with phenomenal service during 2014.”

This year, RE/MAX is celebrating its 41st anniversary and continues to be recognised as an industry leader. RE/MAX was named the leading real estate organisation in the Franchise Times Top 200 for the fifth consecutive year and was the only real estate company to be included in the Top 50 Franchises for Minorities as compiled by the National Minority Franchising Initiative.

In the beginning of March, thousands of RE/MAX Affiliates from around the world will gather at The Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino for the annual RE/MAX R4 convention. They will celebrate the company’s many achievements and 41 years of real estate innovation.
