Learners, parents and teachers of Trinityhouse Little Falls High School on the West Rand have been working hard to collect stationery, with almost 400 colourful stationery packs as a result.
Linda Nunes of Pam Golding Properties says the much-needed stationery was donated to delighted learners at the Boskop Primary School in Honeydew recently.
The community outreach initiative was initiated by Nunes , and has been actively gathering a range of stationery items from pens to pencils, rulers, sharpeners and colouring books since August last year.
“The learners, teachers and parents at Trinityhouse Little Falls High School responded magnificently to the project, donating a substantial amount of stationery sufficient for hundreds of packs to a most worthy cause,” says Nunes, who is responsible for the marketing of homes for Pam Golding Properties in Eagle Canyon Golf Estate, a 40ha golf estate located near to Boskop Primary School in Honeydew on the West Rand.
Nunes says that although the estate has a country feel to it, it is central to many large shopping malls and places of entertainment. Clearwater Mall for example, is just around the corner, while the recently-developed Cradlestone Mall is in close proximity.
“We will now be looking at making this an annual drive to collect stationery for learners in need, and hope to expand the concept to other schools and neighbourhoods in the area this year,” says Nunes.
“Pam Golding Properties has always been a community-minded business, and is keen to participate and assist in the development of the area. This kind of initiative not only encourages community spirit, but also allows us as a company to become more involved with the community and to better understand the people we serve.”
Nunes says Eagle Canyon has many excellent private and government schools in the vicinity, including Trinityhouse, Aurora College, Charter House, Boskop Primary School, Randpark Primary School, Randpark High School, Weltevreden Primary School and Allen’s Nek High School.
“Residential estate living is becoming an increasingly popular option in Johannesburg for various reasons, including the fact that properties within these communities tend to offer residents a secure, carefree lifestyle,” says Rupert Finnemore, who heads up Pam Golding Properties in Gauteng.
“Home seekers are, as far as possible, seeking to live and bring up their children in environments that are free of concerns, rich in facilities, offering maximum convenience and with a strong sense of community. Estate living has consequently become an increasingly popular option in the region in recent years.”
