PE retail centre gets 2nd phase

11 Oct 2007
A R40m phase two extension will be carried out at the Sunridge Village retail centre in Sunridge Park in Port Elizabeth.

The centre, says Richard Edwards, Nedbank Property's (Cape) new business manager, has benefited from being well sited and is close to Kragga Kama Road, which is the main arterial road to the western suburbs.

"This whole precinct, Sunridge Park, Framesby, Lorraine, Fernglen and the territory further afield up to Kragga Kamma and Theescombe, has become sought after by homebuyers - and has seen some spectacular property value increases. Therefore, extending the retail centre makes good sense and will be welcomed by all these residents."

Phase two, which was started in June, will have about 3,000sq m of lettable space and 141 new parking bays in a two-level structure. It will be complete by April 2008.

The existing centre has a 2,000sq m Superspar as its anchor tenant, as well as a Post Office, Clicks, a Build-It store and a variety of line shops providing such services as video hire, pharmaceuticals and coffee shops.

For phase two the developers have been successful in signing up a 700sq m Woolworths store, a 547sq m extension to the Spar shop and a Cattle Baron restaurant.
