Scores of delighted shoppers were there to witness the opening of the newly revamped and extended Paledi Mall in Mankweng, rural Limpopo.
Paledi Mall’s completed multi-million rand expansion has seen it double its size to 25 000 square metre GLA. It now offers 86 stores, restaurants and services, including another big-name anchor tenant, Shoprite, in a 3 000 square metre store.
A festive atmosphere greeted shoppers on the opening day with fantastic competitions for exclusive prizes, while kids enjoyed a fun-filled day of face painting, train rides and a bungee trampoline. Local artists, DJs and the community brass band and drum majorettes also impressed with their performances.
The decision to enhance the mall to create a bigger and better retail mix was taken by its owners and developers, Twin City Development, together with Retail Network Services (RNS).
Johan Visagie, managing director of Twin City Development, says Paledi Mall’s massive expansion will entrench it as a retail asset to the community, particularly with the introduction of a second national food anchor, additional financial services and a brand new food court, including Debonairs, Nandos, Fish & Chip Co and Chesanyama.
Gavin Tagg of RNS says the mall is set to go from strength to strength with its fresh mix of new tenants, all in a modern and contemporary setting. Shoppers have also welcomed the centre’s full national fashion complement.
The mall’s new strong fashion focus features well-known retailers such as Truworths, Identity, Total Sports, Ackermans, Mr Price, Edgars Active, Exact, John Craig, Markham, Foschini and Sportscene, among others. There’s also plenty more to look forward to when Woolworths Textiles opens in early 2015.
Banking is even more convenient at Paledi Mall with the introduction of Capitec, which joins Nedbank and FNB Easy-plan. There is also a Sasol Filling Station and a KFC Drivethru on offer, in addition to a number of fashion, speciality, health and beauty and furniture stores.
Shoppers also enjoyed the mall’s generous free open-air parking and great accessibility just off the busy R71 route between Polokwane and Tzaneen.
