New pet friendly retirement estate in Umhlanga

09 Sep 2015

With its sub-tropical climate, beautiful beaches, warm sea and quality of life, people have always been drawn to the KwaZulu-Natal coastline, and retirees are no exception.

“There are very few options available for retirees, and those with frail care facilities are even more difficult to find, hence the demand for Oasis, which offers 24-hour frail care, stepless living, 24-hour security, and a community centre with small restaurant and swimming pool,” says Reynolds.

This is according to Carol Reynolds, Pam Golding Properties area principal in Durban, Durban North, La Lucia and Umhlanga, who says as the burgeoning Northern coastal belt of the province continues to experience unprecedented growth, they are finding that people are choosing to retire in this highly desirable area.

“Umhlanga is growing at a rapid rate, with the area stretching from Durban North to Umdloti the latest hotspot along the coast. There’s been a resurgence of developers moving back into the area, and we are inundated with development proposals.”

She says one such development that has generated a wealth of interest is Oasis Retirement Estate.

This development is situated in Umhlanga, just a few kilometres from the Umhlanga hospital and the new Gateway hospital, Gateway shopping centre, top-class hotels, the Umhlanga Village with its abundance of restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques, and, of course, the beautiful promenade and beach.

The pet-friendly, freestanding homes at Oasis start at R1.55 million and studios in one, two and three bedroom options are available. There is also secure parking for owners and visitors.

“The lifestyle offering is difficult to beat, given that Umhlanga is the most centrally situated and popular village in the coastal belt.”

“With only 44 units available, due to the high demand, we have been reserving units prior to the official launch this past August.”

Buying a home is exciting – but, if you failed to ask the right questions before you bought, it can be terribly disappointing to discover that you cannot build your dream deck or open your boutique coffee shop because of certain property restrictions or zoning laws.

Securing your dream property depends on getting your offer to purchase accepted. Ideally, the seller would be looking for a good price, and the best possible deal while you may want to also secure a good deal for yourself.

In a significant policy reversal, the proposed VAT increase from 15% to 15.5% - which was scheduled to come into effect on 1 May 2025 – has officially been cancelled.
