04 May 2017

Set on the slopes of Tygerberg Hills in Plattekloof, De Plattekloof Lifestyle Estate for the over-50s boasts unbeatable views of greater Cape Town, Table Mountain and Robben Island, and an array of options, facilities and activities for the most comfortable retirement lifestyle.

“A first phase of 15 modern and spacious homes is available to purchase off-plan from R3.627 million, including transfer duty. These homes feature impeccable finishes, and range in size from 129sqm to 169sqm, offering two or three bedrooms,” Laubscher.

This is according to Johan Laubscher of Arun Lifestyle, who says a visit to the site is recommended since no description of the breathtaking views or natural surroundings can do them justice.

“At De Plattekloof Lifestyle Estate we provide the best of the best for those who really want the ultimate in an enjoyable retirement,” says Laubscher.

“It is definitely one of the most exclusive retirement estates in greater Cape Town, with a very unique location, unbelievable views and quality accommodation.”

He says three different types of properties are available in De Plattekloof Lifestyle Estate: 114 assisted living suites, 98 independent living apartments, and 57 "exquisite" homes. This lifestyle development includes designer finishes and appliances from high-level manufacturers, including Smeg.

“Construction is already well under way, and a beautiful fully-furnished show apartment as well as a scale model of the development are available for viewing. The onsite sales centre is open on weekdays for viewings by appointment, on Saturdays from 10h00 to 14h00 and on Sundays from 14h00 to 5h00,” says Laubscher.

“The studios and one and two bedroom assisted living suites are in the main building, Tijgerzicht. Depending on floor level, these suites feature beautiful views of the gardens, slopes of Tygerberg Nature Reserve, and Table Mountain and the coastline from Fish Hoek to Bloubergstrand.”

Equipped with a 24-hour emergency call system for assistance at the press of a button, Laubscher says these suites give residents the opportunity to enjoy the privacy of their own apartments or to interact with fellow residents in the luxurious lounges and communal dining area.

They feature high-quality finishes and are priced from R1.203 million, including transfer duty. Tijgerzicht also accommodates a 12-bed frail care unit.

Laubscher says De Plattekloof’s onsite healthcare facility provides a clinic, 24-hour nursing, and other healthcare services, offered by Medwell SA. Healthcare options are personalised and tailor-made to specific circumstances and needs, ranging from intensively continuous support through moderate assisted living to maximum independence.

“We have over 20 years of experience in caring for the aged, including managed home care and nursing, which will allow residents at De Plattekloof to enjoy the comfort of their own independent homes for much longer. The assisted living suites offer comprehensive care in a luxury environment,” says Gerhard Lombard from Medwell SA.

Laubscher says the first blocks of two bedroom luxury apartments for independent living are called Lebenstijn and Bloemendal, and with Bloemendal complete and Lebenstijn nearing completion, both are available for viewing.

“These apartments are priced from R2.25 million, including transfer duty, and offer an excellent option for those who want a lock-up and go lifestyle, or who want to downscale. They are all over 70sqm in extent, excluding the 6.13sqm balcony or patio, and include exclusive use parking bays,” says Laubscher.

Laubscher says purchasers may choose from a selection of designer finishes to personalise their homes, which are designed in the Cape Vernacular architectural style, inspired by the natural beauty of the surroundings and positioned for maximum exposure to sunlight and views.

They are woven together by a unique network of walkways through landscaped gardens, he says, creating a secure and tranquil neighbourhood which promotes a sense of community while offering privacy.

Laubscher says a dedicated environmentalist is part of the project team, and De Plattekloof Lifestyle Estate offers residents an abundance of lush plant life that will make for pleasant walks and provide a rich habitat for bird and animal life.

De Plattekloof is neighboured by Tygerberg Nature Reserve and the Plattekloof Duck Pond with its variety of bird life, allowing retirees the enjoyment of leisurely strolls to feed the ducks, guinea fowl and geese.

“The estate offers social, sport and recreation, entertainment, arts and craft and personal enhancement options. Amenities on site include a restaurant, bar, coffee shop, library, hair and beauty salon and clubhouse with function facilities and activities ranging from bridge to reading, music and hiking clubs, cinema and theatre nights and organised outings,” says Laubscher.

“Services include housekeeping, catering, laundry and a dedicated golf cart shuttle.”

Laubscher says other activities available to residents in close proximity to De Plattekloof include golf, bowls, swimming, a jogging trail, cycling and nature trails. It is conveniently close to the medical hub in Panorama, Plattekloof Village Centre, Planet Fitness gym and amenities and access routes.

“The security at De Plattekloof is of the highest standard and includes 24-hour manned and roving security and armed response, full biometric access control and visitor management, perimeter surveillance with thermal imaging cameras and cameras deployed throughout the development,” says Laubscher.

“With De Plattekloof Lifestyle Estate we provide for a social, relaxed and enjoyable luxury retirement lifestyle by guaranteeing the peace of mind that comes with connectedness and complete health, social and physical security.”
