Some of South Africa’s leading retailers will open their doors at the R170 million, fresh and modern Town Square Centre in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal.
This is according to Steph Beyers, development director at the Moolman Group, who says Moolman Group, in a joint venture with M&F Giuricich Developments, Rejem Property Development and the GFT Group, is developing the brand new 15 000sqm Town Square Centre, which will be anchored by one of KwaZulu-Natal’s largest Super Spar stores and a Builders Warehouse.
Beyers says shoppers will be able to get a taste of the convenience that Town Square Centre will have on offer before the festive season. On 29 October, Builders Warehouse and Nando’s Drive Thru will open their doors ahead of the rest of the centre.
In February 2016, the centre will be further complemented by well-known national retailers such as Tops at Spar, Crazy Plastics, Romans Pizza, Capitec Bank, Crazy Store, Coricraft, Volpes, and Dial-a-Bed, among others, many of which will be making their debut in Richards Bay.
Beyers says the Town Square Centre is ideally situated in the heart of Richards Bay and will introduce first-time retailers to the area, adding to the overall retail growth.
Richards Bay harbour, some 168km North of Durban, is home to a coal terminal which is one of the largest export facilities in the world, as well as other major industries.
Town Square Centre is in the town’s main business node, situated on a prominent site conveniently positioned for those entering the CBD every day.
“Town Square Centre will bring quality national retailers together with distinctly local stores for an exceptional retail offering with unmatched accessibility and convenience. It contributes towards strengthening the area to become the most significant retail node in the province north of Ballito.”
Beyers says earthworks for the development commenced in November 2014. Upon completion, Town Square Centre will enjoy superb visibility, supported by easy access and featuring generous free open-air parking, all complementing its convenience retail focus.
Its sizable 4 000sqm Super Spar will add to the leading community and convenience aspect of the centre. The owners of the brand new Super Spar are well-known and highly experienced, having been nominated as operators of the year in 2014.
Town Square Centre also forms part of a larger development. It covers around half of the approximately 9ha prime site.
“This creates the opportunity to expand the centre in future, as well as to develop other complementary commercial opportunities here,” says Beyers.
