The Paradise Beach Residential Resort in Langebaan is still somewhat of a hidden gem for property buyers.
This is according to Seeff agent, Merle Nicholl, who says while Capetonians are familiar with the coastal homes on offer in this popular West Coast holiday village, they are delighted that upcountry buyers are beginning to uncover the wonderful Greek Island lifestyle on offer at this residential resort.
She says this year, they have seen renewed interest in properties in the development with around eight sales, the most recent being a four bedroom home that was sold for R2.2 million. While buyers are still predominantly from the Western Cape, they have seen some buying from upcountry as far afield as the Limpopo area.
Located just north of Club Mykonos on the shores of the Langebaan lagoon, Paradise Beach Resort takes its name from Paradiso (Paradise) Beach on the Island of Mykonos, famed as the weekend getaway of the rich and famous from the Greece mainland and surrounding Mediterranean countries.
“You really cannot get a better location than this”, says Nicholl. The development is nestled around a secluded beach and homes are built in a distinct, generally white washed contemporary Mediterranean architectural style. Most homes are located close to the beach and enjoy stunning sea views.
With its Azure-blue waters, white beaches and almost year round sunshine, Langebaan is a water sport haven and yachts and boats are a regular feature in the bay, she says. There is an endless selection of leisure pursuits that includes the neighbouring West Coast National Park. The village itself boasts modern infrastructure with shops, restaurants and pubs, schools, a top class golf course and the West Coast Mall nearby offers more restaurants and big retail brands.
It is also barely an hour’s drive from Cape Town and the airport, and while it is a popular year-round getaway for weekenders and holidaymakers from across the globe, permanent residency in the village is growing, especially for those working in the city.
She says the newly opened access road to the N7 that extends from Sandown Road in Parklands/Sunningdale also now provides quicker access to just about anywhere in and around the city including the airport for those looking to relocate here to take advantage of the laidback seaside lifestyle.
Residency in the village is also likely to be boosted as business grows in the newly launched and long awaited Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone, given that it is literally minutes away, says Nicholl.
“We have seen growing numbers of buyers who work in the Saldanha/Vredenburg area relocating here in the last two years,” she says.
The Paradise Beach Resort has 24-hour access controlled security and comprises 239 properties. Properties are laid out in an amphitheatre style around the lagoon and are interspersed with natural fynbos surroundings. The resort is also popular for holiday rentals with daily weekend rates of around R2 400 per day.
Nicholl says there are still a few vacant plots up for grabs at prices ranging from R598 000 for 395 square metres to R1.08 million for a 416 square metres plot with stunning views of the lagoon.
Complete homes sell for upwards of R1 995 million for a three bedroom home with an open-plan living area, family room, braai room and double garage to around R3.95 million for a 500 square metre triple storey Mediterranean villa set on a plot of 508 square metres. The home is finished in a contemporary beach house style with wood laminated floors. It includes six spacious bedrooms, four of which have en suite bathrooms along with an open-plan living area, contemporary kitchen family room with a built-in braai, a spectacular sundowner terrace with sea views, staff accommodation and a double garage.
