The ever-popular and leafy residential area of
Hillcrest, in the highway area north-west of
Durban, is experiencing an influx of home buyers, many of whom are relocating from other suburbs in the Durban and surrounding areas, says
Zel Singleton of
Pam Golding Properties in Hillcrest.
"The residential property market in Hillcrest remains buoyant, with a strong demand for correctly priced properties across the board, whether these are existing homes, vacant plots or security estates. There is also a particularly high demand for brand new homes with quality finishes, as well as secure homes within gated estates," she says.
"Hillcrest has broad appeal and we are currently marketing homes ranging in price from R700 000 to R9 million, and vacant land from R600 000 to R5 million. One of the key attractions of the area for families is that Hillcrest is home to the well-known private schools
Highbury and Kearsney College, while Hillcrest Christian Academy is also located here. Geared for the younger or first-time buyers, we are currently marketing two bedroom starter apartments priced from R700 000, situated in Aintree
Lane.
"Development in the area is controlled and in terms of the business sector a new Checkers shopping centre is opening soon, Woolworths are launching a new food outlet, and new office park developments are springing up along the main road.
In terms of residential development, a number of homes are currently on the market including a three bedroom, two bathroom character home at
Camelot Golf and Leisure Estate, priced at R2.395 million. At
Kirtlington Park Equestrian Estate there are two homes available: an exclusive "game lodge" style double storey home for R10.5 million and a five bedroom, five bathroom home for R4. 9 million, while in Langford Estate, we are marketing a gracious four bedroom, three bathroom home priced at R3.6 million.
