Garden Competition for Goodwood, Cape Town residents

23 Sep 2016

A well-maintained garden isn’t just good to look at, but it also adds enjoyment, value and appeal to a property.

The competition will also help promote indigenous plant use and water-wise gardening to conserve water.

To create greater awareness of this, the Pam Golding Properties Goodwood office in Cape Town is running a Garden Competition in the suburb.

The competition will also help promote indigenous plant use and water-wise gardening to conserve water.

“This event has proven to be so successful that we are running it for the third year, with prizes for winners and runners-up in the different categories for Large Gardens, Medium or Small Gardens, and Back Gardens,” says Micheal Dos Santos, area principal for Pam Golding Properties Goodwood.

“We also give away a monthly spot prize from random draws in September, October and November, leading up to the on-site judging of entrant’s gardens during the first week in December (2016).”

The final prize giving is in December for the winners and runners-up in each category, with prizes including seeds from Mayfair, compost and potting soil from Reliance, among others, while each contestant receives a six-month subscription to Garden and Home Magazine and gift pack from the publishers.

Dos Santos says judging criteria for the competition include design and layout, landscaping, plant use and choice, maintenance, condition and general considerations, which include bonus points for the use of indigenous plants and water-wise gardening methods.
