With big development planned for the future, coupled with the anticipated growth that this will bring, Fourways is a highly sought-after area that is considered to be one of the most promising areas for buying property in Johannesburg.

This is according to Dieter Harck, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX One Hundred, whose office services Fourways and the surrounding areas.

“Long before the area was called Fourways, it was a 605 acre farm owned by the Eriksen family. The land was eventually sold off, piece by piece, to various buyers, and the area developed into a hive of activity,” he says.

Today it comprises eight individual suburbs, namely Norscot, Magaliessig, Greater Fourways, Norscot Slopes, Lonehill, Broadacres, Craigavon and Beverley.

The area also incorporates three estates called Cedar Lakes, Fourways Gardens and Dainfern, says Harck.

“The area’s ideal positioning has added to its allure, with property ranging from small sectional title units to large upmarket freestanding homes catering to a range of buyers at all life stages.”

This home selling in Fourways offers five en suite bedrooms and is situated in a private estate. It has three reception areas, as well as three garages and a staff suite. The property is on sale for just under R7 million - click here to view.

Harck says a major drawcard for the area is it positioning close to excellent schools, shopping centres and amenities.

“There is always something happening in Fourways as the area boasts a number of entertainment facilities, restaurants and shopping malls such as The Fourways Mall, Leaping Frog, Cedar Square, Pineslopes Boulevard, Montecasino and Fourways Crossing to name a few.”

Added to this, he says you will find various schools, like Crawford Prep and College, Bryanston Primary School, Bryandale Primary School, Fourways High School and Bryanston High School and nursery schools within proximity.

The area, which is only 17km from Lanseria International Airport, also has easy access to William Nicol Drive that provides direct access to the N1 or N14 to Pretoria and, says Harck.

Andris Theart, a RE/MAX One Hundred sales associate, who is currently marketing an upmarket cluster in Fourways for R6.999 million, says that the area is an excellent choice for buyers who want to have the convenience of being close to a selection of amenities.

This three bedroom, three bathroom home for sale in Fourways is set on a 1 840sqm erf. The home includes a study, lounge with fireplace, swimming pool and separate cottage. It is selling for R2.75 million - click here to view.

“Although the property is close to the hustle and bustle of the Fourways area, it still offers buyers the opportunity of owning a private oasis with beautiful gardens and waterfalls,” says Theart.

“With security top of mind for most property buyers in the country, the home also offers a state-of-the-art security system, along with its own security gate that leads up to the main entrance.”

The Beverley, Lonehill and Pineslopes areas all form part of the Lonehill Residents' Association (LRA), which was established primarily for security in these suburbs. The LRA also maintain and clean the gardens, parks, lake, trees and pavements, he says. “By doing so, a real sense of a safe community has been created.”

He says other features of the property include three north-facing guest bedrooms, two of which have full en suite bathrooms with skylights above the showers, a double volume entrance hall, study, guest toilet, storage cupboard, private lounge, atrium with water feature, dining room and TV room/lounge, a double garage, two covered carports and ample additional parking for guests.

The dining room and TV room/lounge shares a double sided wood fireplace, says Theart. “The beautiful extra-large kitchen, which features solid wood cupboards and granite counter tops, is off the dining room and has an entrance into the double garage as well.”

This three bedroom, two bathroom home in Fourways is set in a lush estate. It has a patio with built-in braai, as well as a fireplace in its living area. It is on the market for R1.75 million - click here to view.

In the kitchen there is space for a double-door fridge, built-in microwave, gas stove and extractor fan and a breakfast nook. Off the kitchen is the scullery, with a separate walk-in pantry and space for two appliances.

In addition, he says the home has space in the passage for a study area and a linen cupboard or storage room.

The main bedroom is north facing with a huge walk-in cupboard, full en suite bathroom with atrium and separate toilet. The main bedroom and one of the guest bedrooms open up on a shared north facing patio with views of the surrounding trees running along the river.

The covered patio features a wooden bar, ideal for serving sunset cocktails. According to Theart, the patio, TV room/lounge, private lounge and study all open up onto the manicured garden and a heated rock pool with water feature.

“Other features of this property include a self-contained cottage off the kitchen, a PABX telephone system and VacuFlo Air Cooling System,” says Theart.

Harck says Fourways and the surrounding suburbs have remained sought-after area for many years, and buyers who purchase homes in these suburbs can expect to realise a solid return on investment over the long term.
