Carl Venter, the licence partner of Engel & Völkers Potchefstroom, has been a license partner with Engel & Völkers Southern Africa for 10 years this year.
This is according to Craig Hutchison, CEO Engel & Völkers Southern Africa, who says they are proud of what Venter and his team have achieved in the 10 years since he opened his first office.
“From the moment he joined us, he has been the most consistent team player, leader, achiever and adherent to our corporate identity for the Engel & Völkers group.”
He says Venter has been nominated 7 out of 10 years as the Top Office in South Africa, and has won our national annual awards as ‘Brand Ambassador’, ‘Licence Partner of the Year’ and ‘Principal of the Year’ more than anyone else in South Africa.
Hutchison says possibly though, Venter's highlight in the 10 years was winning the international category for ‘Marketing, Branding and Systems’ in July 2010 at the annual international rewards and recognition event hosted in Majorca, Spain.
Considering that there were more than 560 competitors represented in 39 countries on 5 continents, this was a remarkable achievement and a wonderful honour.
“Alongside his own personal awards, the Potchefstroom sales advisors are always well represented in the various categories of our annual awards and have won many of these awards, both nationally and internationally.” He says they have been acknowledged a number of times on the stage in Majorca with the most recent well-deserved occasion being in 2014 when Theo Volschenk was nominated for the second year in a row.
Last year he also won the international category of “TOP Agent Unit Sales”, this being due to him internationally achieving the highest number of points in this category. His colleague, also from Potchefstroom, came 6th in the international rankings in the same category.
The first office which Venter opened in 2005 was an old Potchefstroom home which was converted to serve as an office. In 2008, they opened the second signature shop in the Moorivier Mall.
Hutchison says Venter and his marketing team are creatively involved in every annual Aardklop Art Festival, which has certainly increased his branding, and made Engel & Völkers a household name in the region.
In 2010, Engel & Völkers Potchefstroom launched their Energy Efficiency movement and ever since, they have been on the forefront of energy efficiency in Potchefstroom. They will now be building their first Energy Efficient house on Lekwena Wildlife Estate.
During last year, Venter was approached by Kaapland Films as they were planning the filming of their latest movie, Mooirivier, in Potchefstroom, and requested to use his Engel & Völkers shop in the filming.
Hutchison says the fact that Venter has never changed his hands-on management style in these 10 years, serves as a testimony to his confidence, commitment and passion for the real estate industry. His influence in the Potchefstroom property market is clearly visible.
Venter is involved in the daily running of his two shops, and together with this and his knowledge of the local property industry and the market in general, he is well respected in Potchefstroom for residential sales, residential rentals, commercial sales and rentals, new developments and farms.
