At various Celebration of Success breakfasts held during February and sponsored by Betterbond and Standard Bank, Adrian Goslett, CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa said that RE/MAX agents accounted for 5% of all agents currently operating in the industry, and during 2010, were responsible for 15% of all residential transactions that took place.

The KwaZulu-Natal award winners were announced at a breakfast event held on 25 February. Four agents received a Lifetime Achievement Award for their exceptional sales results during their seven or more years of service. In the Port Elizabeth region, Kobie Potgieter, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Independent Properties, was announced as one of 14 people around the country who were awarded with the Lifetime Achievement award for 2010. To qualify for this award, agents need to have been with RE/MAX for a minimum of seven years, and need to have reached a certain level of registered commission over this period.

Looking at the year ahead, Goslett along with other industry experts including Standard Bank and mortgage originator Betterbond, predict a fairly flat level of property growth. However, they indicated that opportunities for property investment do exist which include distressed properties and buy-to-let properties as the rental market is continuing to produce good yields.
