Cape affordable project greened

14 May 2009
A 1,5 hectare greening project was launched as an affordable project near the False Bay coast.

According to MSP Project Manager, Kabous Fouche, the project aims to create park-like green public open spaces within the Broadlands Village development.

The ongoing Broadlands project consists of seven phases and 382 units. Five phases are open for purchase starting at a cost of R389k.

Construction of the last units in Phase 3 and 4 was completed at the end of last year. According to Langeverwacht Landscaping's Pieter Colyn, clearing and preparation work commenced towards the end of February. "With construction in the areas surrounding the parks completed, work could start on the greening of the development," explains Colyn.

With over 100 trees being planted on the four park blocks further landscaping and features will include a multipurpose sports field, park and lawn areas with seating, walking and running trails. "We want to provide healthy recreational spaces where residents can relax and children can play safely away from traffic," says Fouche.
