Now, more than ever in the history of South Africa, there is a greater opportunity for women in all sectors of our economy. Now, more than ever, is the time for women to break into previously male-dominated industries such as property.
This is according to Nozipho Sikhonde, Founder and Executive Director at FtG Consulting Services, who says FtG Consuting Services, in partnership with leading inner-city financiers, TUHF - Financing property entrepreneurship in South African cities, will be hosting a day of engaging conversation around property entrepreneurship and information on entering into this exciting space for women.
The event ‘Emancipating Women Through the Power of Asset Ownership’, is taking place on Saturday, 27 August 2016 from 08h30 to 16h30 at Ellis Park Hotel at 19 Derby Road in Bertrams, Johannesburg.
“We bring you phenomenal speakers from within the property investment industry, such award-winning Zola Ntwasa, Rose Valloo and Kgaogelo Mamabolo - just to name a few,” says Sikhonde.
Zola Ntwasa is a founder and director of Jade Capital Parners. She won the Women’s Property Network Entrepreneur Award in 2015, and will discuss alternative funding for property entrepreneurs.
Rose Valloo is the Mortgage Manager at TUHF, and will discuss inner-city investment opportunities with TUHF.
Kgaogelo Mamabolo is currently a director of various property investments and developments, and with a fellow female entrepreneur will discuss the journey of property investment and funding.
Legal experts will also discuss the legal aspects of property investment and entrepreneurship.
Sikhonde says this one-day conference aims to empower women with information to get active in property entrepreneurship and investment.
“As women, we are in a strategic position to empower ourselves whilst empowering others and growing our economy,” she says.
“Women have an opportunity to enter the built environment by getting involved in the buying and selling of property, the rental market, real estate development, and even entering the construction industry.”
Sikhonde says understanding this industry, its barriers to entry for women, its opportunities, challenges, and how to overcome said challenges, is a vital start to women becoming industry players in this space.
