Saturday 11 September 2010 will see the next in a series of auctions held by Seeff Auctions MD Heinrich Koorts, with four properties in Langebaan to go under the hammer on site at each actual property.

“We have auction days quite regularly, where we auction a number of properties, and we’ve had great success with them. We will be holding another during the Whale Festival in Hermanus on the weekend of 24 September 2010. These auctions are held on a specific day over a weekend, and we hold them on site – not in a room – so we travel from house to house. Every time we have held them in Langebaan and other towns before we have had an over 70% success rate in selling.

“There are four homes up for auction this time, with no hard-and-fast reserve prices. There are people out there that only buy via the auction route. By holding these auctions we accelerate the buying activity by getting the buyers to come to a forum at a date, place and time where we will have competitive bidding. The buyers will tell us what they think the values of these properties are. Auctions attract different kinds of buyers – with those attending one auction then arriving at another, so it gets people out there looking.”

The four properties are likely to sell in the more accessible price bands. “It presents a great opportunity for people to secure a holiday home or primary residence at a reasonable price,” he says.

The auction will run as follows: Saturday 11 September at 10:00 at 31 Zeeland St – 939sqm plot, 202sqm home, three bedrooms, one and half bathrooms, double garage and swimming pool; at 11:00 – 27 Troon St, 881sqm plot, 188sqm home, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, double garage with one bedroom flatlet; at 12:00 – 9 Middelburg St, 731sqm plot, 220sqm home, three bedrooms, one and a half bathrooms and double garage; and finally at 13:00 – 4 Prawn St, a double-storey on 398sqm with 400sqm accommodation, five bedrooms, three bathrooms and double garage.

He says Seeff Auctions are set to hold a number of other such auctions before the end of the year.
