5 special ways you can celebrate Mother’s Day at home

10 May 2019

Ask just about any mother what they would like for Mother’s Day, and the answer is likely to contain some unhelpful suggestions of either your time or your love. And, while these things cannot be bought in a shop, they can be unwrapped at home.

Give your mother the TLC she deserves this Mother's Day.

RE/MAX of Southern Africa has compiled a list of understated ways you can spoil your mother from the comfort of her very own home:

1. Allow her some beauty sleep

In most households (especially those with young children), mothers are the first ones up and the last ones to go to bed. This Mother’s Day, do mom a favour and let her sleep in for once.

2. Take over the household chores

No matter how you normally structure your household division of duties, today is mom’s day off. That means that no broom, sponge, peg or spatula should see the touch of your mother’s grip for next 24 hours.

3. Pull out the family albums

Most mothers are sentimental when it comes to their children. Spend the day going through old family photos or home movies together - just be sure to have a box of tissues nearby in case mom (or dad) gets a bit teary eyed at the memories.

4. Prepare a pamper party

Give your mother the TLC she deserves by creating a spa experience from home. Run her a bubble bath and allow her to soak in silence, paint her nails and give her a back rub - anything that helps her relax.

5. Hand her the keys to her dream home

Dad, we’re talking to you here. If your home is proving too small for the growing needs of your family, then it might be time to put up the ‘For Sale’ sign and look for a new home in which to celebrate Mother’s Day in 2020.
