5 properties up for auction in WC

Five commercial properties scattered throughout the country towns of the Western Cape are coming up for sale by silent tender. All these properties are currently still tenanted and have leases in place.

Sited on a 1.717sqm erf on Voortrekker Road in Swellendam, this complex has 693sqm of space renting at R85 per square metre - click here to view.

This is according to Tanya Jovanovski, franchisee for Rawson Auctions for the Western Cape, who says the buildings are all on large erfs, but the lettable areas have been quoted in order for potential buyers to calculate income on the various properties.

- Sited on a 1.717sqm erf on Voortrekker Road in Swellendam, this complex has 693sqm of space renting at R85 per square metre. The lease runs until December 2017.

- Situated in Clanwilliam, at 12 Main Street, a 730sqm building consisting of 270sqm retail space, which is renting for R75 per square metre is on the market, with a lease that expires on July 2017. Also on the property is a 199sqm home, leasing at R15.80 per square metre with a lease agreement that expires in March 2016, and two apartments, one with 60sqm and one of 76sqm, also having leases in place.

- In Upington, a 690sqm property is up for sale is in Schroder Street and is leasing at R75 per square metre, with the lease running until May 2016.

- Another property on the corners of Main Street and Van den Berg Streets in Riversdale is on the market. It has 583sqm, leasing at R40 per square metre and offices of 190sqm leasing at R40 per square metre. The leases run until the end of November 2016.

Jovanovski says with the silent tender system, all bids have to be emailed to Rawson Auctions or dropped in a sealed envelope, clearly marked Rawson Auctions, at the Rawson Property Group’s Head Office at 222 Main Road, Rondebosch, not later than 12:00 on 12 February 2015. Bids will then be opened and read loud at the auction.
