Cling wrap seals tightly around food storage containers to help keep food fresh.
Cling wrap is usually reserved for food storage, but there are other smart ways of using it around the house.
Michael Lee, Brand Manger of GLAD Wrap, has the following tips:
1. When defrosting meat in the refrigerator, take the meat out of its packaging and place it on a plate before loosely covering it with cling wrap to allow some air flow.
2. Line dessert moulds with cling wrap to prevent the dessert from sticking to the bottom of the mould.
You can also use this trick to create an interesting patterned effect. For a greater effect, scrunch up the cling wrap into a ball, then unfold it and line the mould.
Materials like putty or children’s play dough will last longer if you wrap them in cling wrap before storing them in an airtight container.
3. When threading your lace curtains, cover the ends of the curtain rods with cling wrap to protect the material.
4. For beautiful, healthy hair, wash your hair with shampoo, apply conditioner and wrap it in cling wrap for 30 minutes to an hour for a deep conditioning treatment.
5. To prevent ice-cube trays from sticking to each other, and the freezer, place a piece of cling wrap between each ice-cube tray.
6. When house-painting, wrap your paint brushes and rollers in cling wrap overnight to prevent them from drying out and the bristles hardening.
7. Line paint trays with cling wrap for easy, no-mess cleaning or to prevent colours mixing when you need to change paint colour.

8. Another great use when you’re repainting your bathroom is to wrap your taps and faucets with cling wrap to prevent paint staining the taps.

10. When moving house, wrap your plates, bowls and glasses in cling wrap before wrapping them in newspaper. You won't have to re-wash them all before putting them away in your new home.
