North West

North West

North West is found in the northern part of South Africa on the border of Botswana, with Gauteng Province to the east and the Free State to the south. Also known as the ‘Platinum Province’, North West is rich in underground metals, producing a quarter of South Africa’s gold, granite, marble and diamonds.

Mahikeng, previously Mafeking, is the provincial capital with Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp being the largest cities, surrounded by other main towns including Brits, Sun City and Rustenburg. North West has a number of major tourist attractions, including the internationally famous Sun City, the Madikwe Game Reserve, the Kgaswane Mountain Reserve and the Pilanesberg National Park and Game Reserve.

Portions of two of South Africa's eight Unesco World Heritage sites fall within the borders of North West: the Vredefort Dome, the world's largest visible meteor-impact crater, and the Taung hominid fossil site, which has been incorporated into South Africa's Cradle of Humankind, ensuring an influx of national and international tourists.

North West is also home the University of North West and the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education, two leading universities. With great road structures, job opportunities and property prices, family living in the North West is on the increase as sought-after properties in close proximity to universities, schools, work places and famous heritage sights are fast selling investments.

However, a province rich in financial growth, the North West offers home buyers and sellers a variety of properties from affordable apartments in the city to family homes in the beautiful suburbs; luxury homes on secured estates to commercial and industrial properties with large productive farmlands.
