IEASA runs sectional title rentals workshop

10 Mar 2015

The Institute of Estate Agents (IEASA) Western Cape hold regular rentals and rental inspection workshops, but the need for sectional title specific training was identified and will now be met.

Annette Evans, regional general manager for IEASA, Western Cape, says a workshop will be held from 09h00 to 13h00 on Thursday, 12 March at the IEA training centre in Sheldon Way, Pinelands to cover rentals in sectional title schemes.

This is according to Annette Evans, regional general manager for the Institute, Western Cape, who says a workshop covering this will be held from 09h00 to 13h00 on Thursday, 12 March at the IEA training centre in Sheldon Way, Pinelands.

She says there are many cases that have arisen where the rental agent does not know enough about the Sectional Titles Act, the Prescribed Management Rules or conduct rules, and many situations could have been avoided, had the agent had all the information to hand.

The sectional title rentals workshop is new to the line-up of courses run and will cover what rental agents need to know about sectional title letting, says Evans.

Attendees will be introduced to the terminology used in sectional title schemes and how to avoid common problems such as ensuring tenants adhere to conduct rules, issuing fines to those who don’t, how to deal with parking problems, what to do when repairs are needed, and so on.

Vivien Marks, a specialist in rentals, will be running the session.

The workshop costs R500 for IEA members.
