Estate agents on the Garden Route who work predominantly in renting property, or who are thinking of branching into that division to expand their business, are advised to attend the last two rentals training sessions for 2015 being run by the Institute of Estate Agents Western Cape (IEASA-WC) in George in November.
This is according to Annette Evans, regional general manager of the Institute Western Cape, who says both these sessions will be run by rental specialist, Vivien Marks, and will be held at the Pine Lodge, corner of Saasveld and Knysna Road, Glenwood, George.
The first is a two-day course which will provide detailed information on rental legislation, and will run on 9 and 10 November from 09h30 to 14h00.
The cost of the two days is R1 500 plus VAT for members, and R1 750 plus VAT for non-members.
The course will cover practical aspects of renting residential property, which includes marketing the property, attracting tenants, coping with problematic tenants, inspections, dealing with deposits, and so forth.
Sponsors, Imfuna, will also introduce their Property Letting Lifestyle Solutions mobile app to the delegates.
Evans says letting agents should ask themselves if they are familiar with the legal interpretation of the Rental Housing Act, and if there is any doubt, they should attend courses such as these.
Each agent attending will be issued with sample agreements to use in their own businesses, says Evans.
The second training session covers lease knowledge and will cover requirements of legal and valid contracts, basic obligations, deposits, inspections, and so forth.
This session will be run on 11 November from 09h30am to 13h30, and will suit all agents or administrators involved in rentals.
The cost of the course is R600 plus VAT for members and R850 plus VAT for non-members. Evans says attendees should bring their own lease agreement document to this workshop.
“We at IEASA are very excited to be bringing this training to the area again and trust that property practitioners will use this opportunity to gain their Continued Professional Development (CPD) for both events for non-verifiable training,” she says.
“Delegates will receive attendance certificates in proportion to the hours spent at both these courses.”
She says the Western Cape office looks forward to the support of the region.
As seating is limited to 20 people per session, agents are asked to book online as soon as possible online and secure their seat by emailing the proof of payment to Janine Killian.
