The 27 000 square metre shopping centre construction is well underway with national tenants including Checkers, Pick n Pay, Woolworths, Foschini, Truworths, Reggies, Game, Mr Price Group and other small tenants set to open stores in the new mall.

The project is developed by Investec Property, Tintswalo Property Group and RPP Consortium.

They say it is important to the success of the development that local traders are also afforded an opportunity to participate in this new venture and leasing is expected to commence soon.

A second phase which will add a further 10 000 square metres of retail space to the development is being considered, prompted by demand from retailers who are attracted by the facilities and the location.

The developers are in discussions with JN de Witt Civil and Building contractors and WBHO Construction, who have formed a joint venture, to see how social upliftment initiatives can be rolled out in the surrounding community.

They say a significant number of jobs will be created during the construction phase as well as positions once the project is completed.

The mall will feature the state-of-the-art security and design contemporary elements that are in sync with the environment.

It will also have parking for 1 700 cars. – Denise Mhlanga
