Agents should attend EAAB road show

23 Apr 2013

There are many changes taking place in the real estate industry and some say there is confusion in the ranks.

Agents are encouraged to attend the EAAB Road Show event that will be held at various venues throughout the provinces in South Africa in order to be kept informed of developments within the property marketing environment.

However, the Institute of Estate Agents in the Western Cape intend to continue their drive towards bringing the best service and possible training to all estate agents.

Annette Evans, head of marketing at the IEA Western Cape and head of PropStats, says that there is a drive to boost their membership and they are waiving the usual joining fee for a limited time. The monthly membership is R45 per month.

This fee entitles members to unlimited access to the PropStats data platform as well as discounted rates to training and seminars arranged by the Institute, which covers a variety of legal updates and motivational talks.

“The IEA, Western Cape has always seen itself as the 'middle-man' between agents and the EAAB," Evans says, and in order to represent estate agents properly, they should become members so that the Institute can act on their behalf effectively.

The EAAB has confirmed that the  Intern Log Book, which is designed to be used by intern estate agents and their principals or mentors, is available online.

The log book contains information and projects that the intern and their principals will complete over one year and the guidelines are there to complete the necessary steps to becoming a qualified estate agent.

Evans encourages agents to attend the  EAAB Road Show event being held on the 23rd April at the Cape Sun in Strand Street, Cape Town. The road show will be going from Cape Town to various areas in Gauteng, then to Durban, and the following date in the Western Cape will be on the 26 June at the Erinvale Hotel in Somerset West.

“Bryan Chaplog, acting CEO of the EAAB has said that all stakeholders in the real estate industry are welcome at these events," says Evans. As the road show is being held at various venues throughout the provinces in South Africa, she says that they hope to reach the majority of those involved in the property industry in SA.

“The EAAB has said that they want transparency and these events are a way to keep estate agents informed of developments within the EAAB and the property marketing environment.”
